*This is not an anime-related post, except for the pics
So I mentioned some time ago that I started interning at an e-zine as an article-writer/editor. I’m working with these amazing people with remarkably talented writing, and sometimes it makes me feel a little under-qualified. The thing is, I don’t have 100% faith in the grammar and content of my own articles!
This is a bit of a wild idea, but would anyone be willing to be the reader of something that I write? In exchange, I’ll edit stuff that you write for you too. Article-writing is quite new to me. It’s arguably similar to writing blog posts, but I know for a fact that my posts are far from impeccable in terms of grammar and formatting. The best pieces I’ve seen these days have been on WordPress – on you people’s wonderful blogs.
The stuff I write for my internship is mostly based on interviews I conduct with local artists or people with interesting opinions on art/poetry. Pretty accessible stuff, and never longer than my typical blog post.
You might wonder if my editing skills are trustworthy after all I’ve said. I do have a lot of experience editing academic papers for people though, and consider myself to be pretty good at offering qualitative feedback. Even if my grammar isn’t flawless, it’s good enough for me to catch most mistakes out there, and good enough for me to turn in some consistently decent lit. papers too.
If you’re interested in this idea at all, feel free to comment below! The more people interested the better it is for me – I’m happy to read lots of stuff. It matters not what your experience is. Please don’t think of it as any sort of commitment – I just think it’s nice for writers to learn from one another, and would truly love to read anyone else’s work of any sort. I’ll add you on Twitter if you have that, or we’ll figure something else out.
Hmm, I would be willing to offer my help, but as English isn’t my native language (I’m Dutch π), I’m not sure if my help would be good enough to be honest. While I think my English skills are decent, in no way will I claim I am an expert. This is a great idea though. I hope you will find the help you need. π

Thanks a lot, Raist (thanks for the retweet as well)! There’s no way your English isn’t good enough (your blog is one of the blogs I think of when I say “wonderful WP blogs”. I’ll be happy to exchange written stuff with you if you feel like it π

Aww, thank so much for these kind words: that really makes me smile so much. Always happy to help, so really no worries: do have to admit that on weekdays I am a bit pressed for time because of my dayjob, but I am more than happy to look into things on weekends if you like π

Hi! I worked as a copy editor on my school’s literary magazine for two years. I’d be happy to be a reader!

I could help out as well. I spent one year as online editor of my high school literary magazine and currently serve as Opinion Editor for the high school Newspaper.

I wouldnβt mind, English is not my native language and I donβt have any editing experience, but you can be the judge of my ability. An editing network sounds nice and super useful.

Thanks! I’m actually a huge fan of your writing style. And an editing network! I haven’t thought that far yet, but it definitely sounds like a doable possibility. I’ll be happy to know if you have further suggestions regarding that.

I we get enough people in on it we might be able to start a Discord or Twitter group or something, although maybe Iβm being overly ambitious.

With the amount of people who commented, I don’t think it would be overly ambitious at all (supposing that at least some of these people are interested). I might even make a post on this topic next.

I don’t mind doing this, but as you can see I have a really crappy and irregular posting schedule, so I will probably drag you down.

Thank you! Don’t think of it as any commitment – I’d love to read something you write too anytime βΊ
