A New Year and a Blogger Recognition Award

Thanks, Mel, for nominating me! Seriously, people, check out her blog! On top of stellar content, she has a wonderful collection of anime guys, so it’s really difficult to forget!

Now, forgive me for asking this newbie question here, but when you link someone else’s blog, do they always get notified? It’s something I’ve been a little confused about when nominating people for the Liebster Award. Do you just name and link them, or should you nominate each person individually?

Anyways, let’s get to the actual thing.

Founding Story

I explained this story just recently in my postΒ The Moyatorium: A Brief Existence that Hopes to Stick Around. For more info, also check out my first introductory post: Welcome to my little blog~. In short, the blog was created in an attempt to have more things to put on my resume – things like “expertise with WordPress” and “experience with article-writing.” Did I disappoint you? I’m sorry.

I’ve always thought “The Moyatorium” would be a cool name to use for something though. Back in high school, a friend and I lamented together about moratoriums and existential crises and she kept using “moya-moya” to describe how she felt as graduation approached. “What a moyatorium,” I punned. She rolled her eyes, but I thought I was kind of brilliant. So yeah, here I am…

Blogging Advice (If you dare take advice from me)

Use thesaurus.com. I know, online thesauruses get a bad rap, but don’t be afraid to use them! You know, that moment we all have when you’re thinking of a word that kind of describes something but isn’t perfectly accurate? Or maybe the word you know that you definitely know is just evading you? As long as you properly look up any words that you’re not sure about, there really isn’t an issue. Especially if you do somewhat creative work as well – thesaurus.com has helped me immensely when coming up with translyrics.

Always say “yes” when you’re wondering yes or no.Β No matter if it’s when you’re unsure as to whether to write on a new topic you haven’t tried, comment under a post of someone you don’t know, or publish something weird you just wrote, just do it! It’s difficult for me to do that even now, but if you don’t, you’ll just end up regretting. WordPress is a space to experiment. And if this reassures anyone, you can always go back and trash a post you really end up hating (and you can also recall what you have trashed!).

Now, the Best Part

I don’t know many of you yet, so if you get nominated but don’t actually remember who I am, it’s perfectly normal. Do know that I really admire your blogs though. You can consider it as a “notice me, senpai~!” call from me.

  1. I saw the notice in my comments section for this one and was trying to find the post in my reader. Than I just pressed the link and saw that I did not yet follow your blog. Okay: count that as embarassing moment number 1 for today πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ
Thanks so much for nominating me, that really is very cool. I’m really running behind on awards posts, I will be honest, but I’m definitely going to try an play catch up this year to these. But seriously thank you 😊
I have never heard of thesaurus.com, so I will check that out πŸ˜€ And the other piece of advice is so true!
Looking forward to reading more posts from you (and yes I did hit that follow button this time lol πŸ˜‚).

  2. Amazing post and congratulations on getting nominated! Geez, that’s a super creative way of getting your blog name, I’m impressed. The β€˜yes or no’ section really struck a chord in me; that’s the kind of mindset I want to keep with me in the future. Congrats again!

  3. Congrats on being awarded, and cheers to the new year!! Whoo Hoo!!!
That advice on thesaurus is pretty accurate, I find myself checking on some words I’m about to use all the time just to make sure it doesn’t seem weird or that it isn’t too neutral or negative or positive. ^^
Hope 2018 treats you well and continue writing with passion!! (And getting those recognition both here and in real life! You can do it!) πŸ˜€

  6. Better late than never eh? 😊 Thanks for the nomination which I only saw now thanks to Irina posting her response.
I should be the one saying notice me senpai and all that. Will get to this soon! ^^

P.S. when you link to someone’s blog address no notification gets to them, but linking to one of their post will notify them (not sure about the about me page because I don’t get notified when linked to that). Hope this helps and also for future reference πŸ™‚

    1. Nah, you’re definitely my senpai~
And yeah, I guess the about page isn’t the best option either! Maybe I should start linking to people’s most recent posts. Thanks for visiting this old post! To be honest, I’ve almost forgotten it myself πŸ˜…
